A mother who was charged with two counts of attempted premeditated murder after her baby was found unresponsive next to a canal earlier this year was found dead from an apparent suicide, Miramar Police said Wednesday.

Inakesha Armour, 34, was found unconscious in her Miramar home at 5332 Southwest 155 Avenue Wednesday morning, according to Miramar Police. Rescuers attempted to resuscitate her and transported her to Memorial Miramar Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The cause of death was not immediately known.

Armour was charged in July after her 3-month-old baby, Cayden Armour, was found in the grass next to a canal in the Riviera Isles community, police said. A bystander, who was a nurse, found the infant and began performing CPR after calling 911. Police said Armour told the nurse that she wanted to kill the child.

Armour had allegedly placed the baby in the water and pulled him out when he started to turn blue. She then laid him on the grass, police said.

When rescuers arrived, they were able to revive the baby and took him to to the hospital in critical condition. His current condition is unknown.

According to family members, Armour was struggling with post-partum depression. The baby's father, Conlan Armour, told police the family did their best to make sure his wife was always with someone else when she was in the presence of the child. Police said she admitted to giving her baby adult cough syrup and trying to smother him with a pillow once before she was arrested.
